The Fire Fighters Charity provides expert care, support and information and advice whenever a member of the fire family may need a helping hand with their physical or mental health and wellbeing.

The charity aims to ensure that the right support is delivered in the right way at the right time. This is the corner stone in which their support philosophy is based.

The charity is independent of the fire service and has caring and skilled staff who understand the unique needs of the fire family. Fire Fighters Charity’s range of care, support and advice is offered in confidence, in-person, online or by telephone – all through self-referral.

Fire service personnel can face significant pressures every day, whether that be attending incidents, taking calls, or supporting frontline teams, so prioritising their health and wellbeing throughout their life is vital. That’s where the Fire Fighter’s Charity comes in.

Whether it’s stress or anxiety – either due to circumstances at work or at home – an injury or illness, or the need to access benefits or financial support, the charity has a huge range of health and wellbeing services on offer.

From its innovative residential programmes to a whole host of digital solutions, the charity provides its beneficiaries from across the UK, with all the physical and psychological support they need. Furthermore, Welfare Services and community-based teams, provide support to individuals and families at home and in their local communities.

After liaising with Community Fundraiser, Alex Byers, Aico were able to offer some assistance to the charity. Last October, and again this August, Aico employees volunteered their time to help at the centre in Penrith, Jubilee House. Across two days, and with a stunning backdrop of the River Eamont, Relationship Managers Carl Traynor, Michael Coupland, Sam Barker, Tony Teal and Martin Przewozny assisted with grounds keeping, fence repairs and painting.

All five were hugely impressed with the commitment from the staff and the help on offer.

Carl Traynor explained, “We were given a tour and afterwards all fell silent. We just didn’t initially grasp the scale of the place or how much of a difference it makes to those who needed it. We all agreed that we had to help any way we could and try to make it at least an annual thing for us if not more often.

It’s hugely impressive and desperately needed by those that we, as the public, rely on so much. It’s a beautiful location and very rewarding to be able to help such an amazing charity and it’s a pleasure liaising with Alex.”

Alex Byers, Community Fundraiser, tells us: “On behalf of everyone at the Fire Fighters Charity, I would like to thank all the Aico volunteers who came up to help out. Keeping the grounds looking their best enables our beneficiaries to enjoy the stunning outdoor space during their stay, gaining vital wellbeing benefits from being outdoors.  We really appreciate the time and energy that they gave to support our charity, and ultimately our fire service beneficiaries.”
