Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Sounds like something from a few years back… Let’s try it again.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door
Sure, it’s Christmas once more
Yes, much better!

You might think that this year Christmas won’t be the same and it most likely won’t, but a few things never change, even in the most unexpected times:
Christmas tree is up before 1st December
Log burner is keeping you warm
Boiler is up and running
Turkey is ordered
Presents are piling in every secret corner of the house
Gingerbread biscuits in the oven and hot chocolate in hands
Mulled wine on the stove
Settling on the sofa to tick all the Christmas films off the list or crafting cards for a personal touch, let us not forget about your safety.
——————————————————————
If you have a real tree, make sure it is watered and make sure the extension lead is not over-loaded with all of the lights adorning the branches! Aren’t we all guilty of it?
Make sure that the log burner and boiler are covered by having Carbon Monoxide alarms installed. You can’t see, taste or smell Carbon Monoxide, so having an alarm will help prevent any potential accidents.
When you’re so into ‘Home Alone’ and forget about the biscuits in the oven, a working Smoke alarm will let you know they’re burning! Oh no! Just put a new batch in, set the timer and relax knowing that everyone is safe at home.

Christmas might be different this year, but safety is our priority. Therefore – test your alarms monthly, replace it when it says so on the side of the unit and dust away those cobwebs, at least before the festive period gets into full swing. And please, for the sake of Santa, don’t take batteries out of the alarms for toys, be prepared and get some extra beforehand!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on
Our troubles will be out of sight
Enjoy and be safe this festive season!
