The support of the physical and mental wellbeing of colleagues is of great importance, so we have implemented a range of wellbeing initiatives that contribute to the wider objective of creating a healthy workplace with various support available.
We want to address mental health in the workplace as thoroughly as possible, with support that is available any day, any time with no other obligations. By working with the Electrical Industries Charity, we have been able to provide professional training and initiatives for our colleagues and create a dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders, who are able to support our colleagues. They promote the importance of speaking openly on mental health, aiming to raise awareness and reduce the associated stigma.
The Mental Health Charter has been jointly produced by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and Merulae Ltd and provides a framework for providing a workplace that is supportive of the mental health and wellbeing of colleagues. We have whole heartedly signed the pledge to demonstrate our commitment to providing our colleagues with access to mental health support, provide awareness and training and put in place a structure to support people in the workplace.
At Aico, our business is built on passionate people. We have a dedicated training and development programme, and our company culture and values were born through this process, created by the stakeholders themselves. Team building days provide a safe environment where colleagues can meet to discuss concerns and needs, promoting a supportive team environment and building trust, teamwork, and collaboration. Since creating the programme, five team development days have been completed by every team.
Our new headquarters includes various spaces for colleagues to unwind; a relaxation room with mood lighting, a fully equipped gym for physical wellbeing, and a games room where our team can get together in their downtime to promote the importance of colleague wellbeing and relationships. Our smoke-free site includes four acres of open space; the landscaped grounds include a 600m trim trail, exercise apparatus and private access to the open-air to provide a break from the working environment.
