Pedal the Borders returned to Aico for a third consecutive year on Sunday 10th September 2023. Aico were proud to be the headline sponsor for the event supported by Adrenaline Sporting Events, in aid of Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Pedal The Borders brings together people of all levels of fitness, taking part in sporting events for reasons ranging from competition, charity, fitness, or fun! The participants vary from fearful first-timers to competitive cyclists. Ambassador for the event, three-time Olympic Champion Ed Clancy OBE also returned for the second year running to complete the 60km route.
The race commenced and finished at the Aico headquarters in Oswestry. Participants had three brand new routes to choose from 25km, 60km and 100km. The routes worked their way through the beautiful scenery on the borders of Shropshire and Powys. The cyclists finished the day back at Aico’s headquarters to pick up their well-deserved medals and enjoy the BBQ and refreshments.
Five of Aico’s colleagues took on the challenge, Regional Specification Managers Robert Avery & Steve Bulley, National Sales Manager Daniel Little, National Account Manager Oliver Barlow and Commercial & Finance Director Matthew Small. They all thoroughly enjoyed their experience and completed their chosen routes.
Oliver Barlow, National Account Manager for Aico commented “I was really proud to participate in Pedal the Borders 2023. It was a challenging but rewarding experience, and I’m glad that I could do it to raise money for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. The scenery was beautiful, and I met some great people along the way. I would definitely recommend this event next year to anyone looking for a challenge for a worthy cause!”
Aico have built a strong relationship with Adrenaline Sporting Events supporting the Oswestry-based company since 2019. Aico colleagues were pleased to support the event in various ways, including volunteering on the day and participating.
Alan Lewis, Founder of Adrenaline Sporting Events commented “Adrenaline Sporting Events is extremely proud to be involved in Pedal the Borders and this year’s ride was a huge success with all riders having a great time on the three different challenging routes.”
The money raised in aid of Lingen Davies Cancer Fund goes towards the essential work the charity provides supporting those affected by cancer in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales, enhancing local cancer services in the region and continuing their life-saving cancer awareness and prevention work in the community.
