Aico proudly sponsored the charity Gala Concert, Songs for Ukraine, that was organised by Oswestry School and held at Holy Trinity Church in Oswestry on Sunday 8th May. All proceeds were dedicated to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

The concert included performances from almost 200 young singers and musicians from throughout Shropshire uniting 9 choirs, both senior schools and junior schools, state schools and independents alike for a beautiful evening of music.

They were also joined by Ukrainian singer, songwriter, producer, DJ and singing teacher, Dasha Minieieva. Dasha performed two solo pieces and joined the children in an arrangement that had been written specifically for the Concert by Oswestry School’s Director of Music, Aled Phillips.

Oswestry School set themselves a £10,000 fundraising target for the Government’s pound-for-pound-matched Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukrainian Humanitarian appeal, which they surpassed by raising over £11,000.

Oswestry School commented; “We are hugely grateful to Aico for their generous support of the Songs for Ukraine charity concert, coming on board as event sponsor and helping to kickstart our fundraising campaign. Aico shared in the vision for bringing the Shropshire community together through the universal language of music, and their support for the event was a significant factor in the event reaching it’s £10,000 fundraising target, one that has now been far exceed.”

Aico’s Community Liaison, Jane Pritchard, commented; We were delighted when Oswestry School approached Aico to be sponsors of Songs for Ukraine, such a worthwhile cause. Raising over £11,000 for Ukrainian refugees is just fantastic and knowing this will be match funded is even better! The school, including 2 of their Ukrainian sixth form students, did an amazing job in putting together and hosting this moving and very inspiring concert. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, Well done to all involved.
