The market leader in domestic Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms, Aico’s recent fire safety event in London has been welcomed by the capital’s social housing landlords as a valuable and informative event.
Held at the Kia Oval cricket stadium in London, the invitation only event was attended by 75 people from London based housing associations and local authorities. Visitors received a one hour CPD presentation on the latest domestic fire safety standards and regulations, along with practical advice on alarm selection and siting within properties.
The main presentation was followed by three further sessions, looking at Aico’s range of award winning technology, including AudioLINK data extraction, RadioLINK+ and future innovations; how and why to wirelessly interconnect alarms to third party safety devices such as Telecare/Warden Call devices, BS5839 Part 1 panel systems and sprinkler systems; and a presentation from Jim MacDonald, Lead Officer Specialist Services, Communities/Housing Services at Fife Council on how the Council has benefited from integrating its fire alarms with Warden Call devices in its sheltered accommodation and HMOs. These sessions were divided between the Oval’s conference room and two of Aico’s Mobile Training & Demonstration Units which were on site for the day.
The Mobile Training & Demonstration Units, launched earlier this year, enable Aico to deliver detailed Smoke and CO Alarm product and technology information, plus its CPD accredited Expert Installer training, right to customers’ doors. Information boards on all Aico technologies and alarm ranges – with fully functional product attached – are installed within the units, along with a virtual video tour of the company’s manufacturing process in Shannon, Ireland.
“We’ve had considerable demand from Social Housing Landlords across London for training around fire safety” states Michael Wright, Marketing Manager for Aico. “As training and education is at the core of everything we do, we felt it was important to hold a large scale event to reach as many people as possible. The event has been so popular that we weren’t able to accommodate all those who wanted to attend, so we will be running a further event in December.”
Aico’s Expert Installer is a CPD accredited modular training scheme that ensures everyone involved in domestic alarm specifications and installation has all the information they need, from standards & regulations, alarm system design & installation, through to specific technologies. If you are interested in attending a training course, please contact Aico to discuss which modules are best suited to your needs. Training is offered at Aico’s recently expanded Centre of Excellence in Oswestry, Shropshire or can be held in one of Aico’s new Mobile Training & Demonstration Units.
