E7 Building Services, which has been delivering state-of-the-art building services for over 60 years, fits Aico Smoke Alarms solely throughout all residential properties as it considers them to be “the best and most reliable equipment on the market”.
Based in Wellingborough, E7 Building Services undertakes projects up to £3m in value across the South Midlands, North London and Home Counties using its own qualified engineers with a testing team providing support for bespoke main works and special projects.
Terry Parrish, Technical Services Manager at E7 Building Services, explains the company’s decision: “We exclusively fit Aico smoke and heat alarms in all of our domestic properties, the majority of which are design and build. These are flats and individual properties; many of our flats are covered by BS5839-1 systems in the communal areas. Any other projects we tend to insist on Aico. We fit Aico devices in all our domestic developments because in my opinion they are the best and most reliable equipment on the market. I can’t remember ever being called back to a property where an Aico device has gone wrong and we have been constantly using Aico devices for around 20 years.”
The company mostly uses Aico’s Ei160e Series of mains powered alarms with a 10 year rechargeable Lithium cell back-up. Delivering the highest level of protection for BS 5839-6 Grade D applications, Ei160e Optical and Heat Alarms are resistant to false alarms, easy to install, attractive with their clean, modern design and are fully compatible with existing Aico alarms and accessories. The Ei160e Series alarms are also compatible with RadioLINK+ technology for whole system data extraction and wireless alarm interconnection.
E7 Building Services is keen to stay up to date with latest developments and has visited Aico’s Centre of Excellence in Oswestry, Shropshire and found it to be “extremely useful, it’s very informative” states Terry. “Personally I found the smoke chamber testing the most interesting part, but it is all a great experience. We look forward to seeing the new technology currently being promoted by Aico and can’t wait to use this on some of our projects.”
The Centre of Excellence is a purpose built training, meeting and demonstration facility incorporating the latest Audio Visual facilities. It has recently been extended to double its size, with a large training room which accommodates up to 20 people for hands on training. The Centre is also home to ‘Ember Place’, a furnished bungalow with suitable Aico alarms and accessories fitted to help educate visitors on common fire risks and promote correct alarm siting.
