With the proposed legislation and regulation changes in Northern Ireland, Aico colleagues took to the road to share some expert advice surrounding the updates to the Private Tenancy Regulations and Building (Amendment) Regulations – Part E (Fire Safety). From April 22nd to May 2nd, the Ask Aico Northern Ireland Roadshow visited 12 locations across the region, including a tour of the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast.
The proposed changes, aimed at enhancing fire and carbon monoxide safety, will bring Northern Ireland in line with the safety measures that are established in other UK jurisdictions. Specifically, landlords must fit a specified minimum of heat, smoke, and carbon monoxide alarms, with reliable power sources, in all private rented homes. To provide an elevated sense of safety for tenants, all alarms must be certified, installed, and maintained to British Standards.
