With only two weeks to go, final preparations for Aico’s 247 mile Charity Bike Ride are in full swing. The team have already raised over £16,000 for the British Heart Foundation and hope to raise even more over the course of their gruelling journey.
The bike ride will see 41 people from Aico, Ei Electronics and Denmans joining forces to ride from Aico’s headquarters in Shropshire to the Ei Electronics factory in Shannon, Ireland.
Neal Hooper, Managing Director of Aico commented ‘We are so proud of the money that we have raised so far and now the team jerseys have arrived there’s no turning back’.
All the riders will be taking on the mammoth 4 day trek travelling from Oswestry in Shropshire, through Snowdonia, Holyhead, Dublin, Birr, ending finally in Bunratty, just outside Shannon in Ireland. The team consists of a range of abilities including some experienced riders and others who are taking to the saddle for the first time.
Michael Wright, Marketing Manager at Aico explained ‘It’s going to be a tough ride, but it’s a sturdy team and for a cause that’s close to our hearts. The longest stage is from Dublin to Birr covering nearly 84 miles in one day.’
The ride starts on the Wednesday 13th September and ends on Saturday 16th September. If you would like to give your support to the riders and British Heart Foundation you can donate at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/aico-ei.
